Illustrating an interactive map for the Great Yorkshire Show

A few months ago the Great Yorkshire Show got in touch asking if I could redesign their map for the website. The Great Yorkshire Show is a huge agriculture festival full of events happening across a large outdoor site. I began by looking at the existing map and the different sections of the festival.

I planned the new map out in Illustrator and divided the areas into different shades of green. The brief asked for each section to be highlighted by an icon so I sketched them out and added them over the top of the map.Great Yorkshire Show map sketch

After the initial map layout and sketch was agreed I then worked up the detail, adding buildings and marquees.

After a bit of tweaking the map was complete and I sent the layered vector file to the Creative team at the Great Yorkshire Show who worked their magic and added the interactive elements. You can take a look at the interactive version of the map over at the Great Yorkshire show website.
