Back in July I was approached by publisher’s Hodder & Stoughton to design a map of Italy that showed all the different types of food produced in the country’s regions. The map was to be used in Gino D’Acampo’s new cook book ‘Gino’s Hidden Italy’.
Working from a big list of food types I started by sketching out all the different food items and scanning them in.
I then pieced them together over the top of the map a bit like a jigsaw to make sure everything fits together in the layout.
I sent a rough sketch to the Art Director and after a few amends I worked the sketches up into full colour.
